I worship in churches with stained glass windows, superb architecture, organs, incense. You see God's glory. I never heard anyone say that they could not read or listen to a sermon b/c of the art. The art is there to offer up to God. We all know why the Society wants stripped down KH. All thee frou frou churchitems cost a fortune. People donate for generations. Bethel wants its money. Also, it takes some time to appreciate art. Witnesses are not art museum types.

Was droping bomb on Hiroshima in 1945 evil?
by new hope and happiness insorry for such a depressing question, but i was moved by a picture i saw of the consequences.
( a woman carrying her child) and i realised:-.
a) it was a civillian population.. b) i don't see how a nuclear holocaust can ever be right.. c) they could have bombed tokyo where all the generals lived but chose hiroshima.. d) the irony after the bombing america conceeded to many of japans terms.. your opinion would be valued..

The situation at the time the bomb was dropped was evil. The bombs ended up saving lives. I did not cry over the Taliban and Al-Qaeda deaths after September 11. The Japanese are not a Western culture. Better enemy lives than Allied lives. Not pretty but true. The Death March. POW treatment. We would have to fight for every inch and Japanese women and children would fight to the death. That was reality.
Pearl Harbor did not start WWII. Racism was ongoing on both sides. Ask the Chinese if they are glad we dropped the bomb.
This is earth. We only have relative good and relative evil.

Jehovahs Witnesses in USA - prefer a bigger government providing more services and involved in regulating morality.
by Sol Reform injehovahs witnesses in usa - prefer a bigger government providing more services and involved in regulating morality .. interesting that jehovahs witnesses who don't vote, even got on this graph.. " what are the political positions of religions and churches in america?.
this new graph maps the ideologies of 44 different religious groups using data comes from pews religious landscape survey.. this survey included 32,000 respondents.
it asked very specific questions on religion that allow us to find out the precise denomination, church, or religion of each person.. .

Who cares? We need a strong central government in these times. No one is going to give up Medicare. Furthermore, the clear trend is to not regulate morality. See U.S. Supreme Court and gay marriage. People are demanding a zone of privacy. The Witnesses are NOT neutral. They never have been. I had so many welfare cheats in my KH. If they want to be neutral, don't use the federal/state/county highway grid. No ambulances or paramedics. No police. The list is endless. Even the ones not on welfare are welfare cheats.

Would you go to church?
by Coded Logic ini have an unspoken rule that if someone ever invites me to a church - that i haven't been to before - i will go.
even though i'm an atheist i'm still interested in the experiance.
just like i'm not into basketball but i would like to go to a game sometime to feel the energy of the crowd.. growing up as a jw i've never set foot in another church.

I started attending services after college. The subway was down so I walked a different route than usually. Cesar Chavez, the migrant worker leader, was billed to preach the coming Sunday. I participated in the grape boycott. He rarely was available on the East Coast so I drove in. I was smitten but it took years before I was truly comfortable.
I don't attend churches that do not endorse gays or refuse women a role as minister/priest. There had better be a real organ. It became a huge part of my life. I need someone I trust to recommend it. Most RC and Pentecostal churches are completely out. Message Bible churches are out even more than RC and Pentecostal churches. There are so many special churches that I have not visited.

World Population Since Creation?
by objectivetruth inmatthew 20:28 - "just as the son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister and to give his life as a ransom in exchange of many".
the word "many" here means :.
4183 polys many (high in number); multitudinous, plenteous, "much"; "great" in amount (extent).. 4183 /polys ("much in number") emphasizes the quantity involved.

Ransom is creepy. Their Jesus is creepy. When I read European history, the authors keep pointing to how plagues, droughts, wars destroyed the population. What does National Geographic or some other group claim about world population. Half full or half empty. If the GB watched Star Trek, they would know about overpopulation.

They were persecuted under a few emperors. Nero was mentioned by Prof. Pagels. It was never widespread persecution the way the Church Fathers wrote and famous painting show. I did a college term paper on the Christian martyrs. Christians were tolerated for the most part. Local stressors, such as an economic downturn, might cause an outbreak of martyrdom. Ignatius begs Christians not to interfere. He wants to be eaten by hungry lions. The bad part for the church was that in some local areas your baptism date meant nothing. Your birthday in Christ was your martydom. Eager beavers would be tortured. It was a fad in the church. Under torture the eager ones divulged the names and addresses of other Christians not so eager. The Church decided to make martydom less attractive. The neutral accounts of witnesses were very moving. Christians would grab the bones from the street.
Christians were charged with crimes against the human race. Pagels writes that at some point Christians in several locations voluntarily stayed behind in plagues to help the sick and dispose of dead bodies with dignity. The pagans were impressed.

The Great Crowd Catch 22
by Perry injust had a two hour conversation with my father.
he is insistent that he will be able to enter the kingdom of god as a member of the 'great crowd'.
he did agree that only the annointed are declared righteous.

I don't know what Protestant and RC churches teach about the one thousand year reign. When I was growing up, it seemed to me that we never were safe. JAH was always testing us. We never had a rest. Revelation is not cited by mainstream denominations. Even nonJWs are scared by it or find it absurd. There appears to be no concept of grace with the Witnesses. Also, in my day only members of the remnant was very old. I felt Armageddon would come any second when my remnant gf died. There was a scandal in my KH b.c the overseer, a recent convert in his 30s took the emblems. He hated black people and was always calling Bethel to be reassigned. Someone called Bethel so he would be removed. We were shocked when Bethel took his side. The understanding that someone already in heaven had failed to be faithful. You are not safe at Jesus' throne. The Bible is so beautiful im most places. How do people get drawn to the scary. My Jesus will zap your Jesus.

Snare & Racket,
May I ask a question? People with cancer have told me that chemotherapy causes cancers. All it does is postpone when you die. So many people I respect say chemo is worse than dying. Radiation stops cancer. I am a child of the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missle Crisis. Radiation causes cancer. I realize ths in't the place for a long presentation. Also, I know different chemos have different degrees of distress.
